"FRANKLIN GILSINGER, the youngest in a family of eight children born to JOSEPH and SOPHIA M. (KELLER) GILSINGER, was born in France November 22, 1848. He received, in his youth, a fair common school education, which he has since greatly improved by his own exertions. At the age of nineteen, he ceased working for his father, and for two years engaged with his brother in working a part of the home farm on shares. He then bought sixty acres of the homestead, and two years later purchased fifty more, including the original improvements, and has recently added thirty-five acres, making in all 145. He was married, November 4, 1873, to MAGDALENA NICE, a native of Seneca County, Ohio. Of the six children born to this union, four are still living - JOSEPH F., MARY M., ANNA M., and CECELIA K. Both MR. and MRS. GILSINGER are members of the Catholic Church, and in politics MR. GILSINGER is a Democrat."
