My Grand Father was Joseph Miles Niblett.
His Father, John Niblett was born in Taynton, Gloucester, England, 18, Nov 1927.
John's father was William Niblett and Mary was his mother.
I have record of 5 children including John. The others are James born 15 Nov 1818, Sophia born 29 Oct 1820, Susanna born 16 March 1823 , and George born 25 Feb 1826
Joseph Miles Niblett was still young when he boarded a ship with his uncle and came to America. We believe they disembarked in Pennsylvania. Later when he came of age, He joined the Union army, but the war was over shortly afterwards and he was sent to New Mexico to fight Mexicans and Indians, with His wife Elisabeth (carver) Niblett, who made extra money by doing the soldiers laundry. John and Elisabeth were married 17 April 1866.
On 10 June 1868, John Niblett was thrown from his horse, and suffered injuries that caused his dismissal from the army.He and his wife then moved to Western Arkansas, and he became a farmer.John Niblett died 13 Feb 1892 from diabetis and complications from his war injury. Elisabeth Niblett died 18 April 1894, leaving the youngest children as wards of a Mr Barns till they came of age. Including Joseph Miles Niblett the youngest child.
Joseph Miles Niblett died never knowing where his father and mother were buried.
But in the 1970s, an elderly lady showed where they were buried. The road had moved so that the grave yard now was quite a distance from the road on private property in Dayton Arkansas on the North side of Black Jack Mountain.
The Niblett decendents place a grave stone on his grave with help from the Union Soldiers memorial fund. And it has that he fought for the Union on his grave stone. You must ask the owner for permission to see the graves.
There are many, but only his and Elisabeth's are known for certain. We believe two of the others are a Floyd and Wavel Niblett who died as teenages, when they tried to ford a flooded stream in western arkansas near Abbott.
My mother, Naomi Ruth Niblett (maiden name) was the youngest child of Joeseph Miles Niblett and Ruby (Spangler) Niblett.
Unsure if this is helpful, but thought I'd post this just in case.
My Mother is still Living in Llano Texas, and always is glad to get information on her family. The Niblett reunion this year will be held in Witcherville Arkansas on july 10th. Mom's address is..
