I am a decendant of Cynthia Niblack and Thomas Shockley through their daughter Permelia Jane Shockley who married James Monroe Clinton in Smith Co Tx Mar 8, 1855. Their son Thomas Sterling Clinton was my great grandfather. I have a photo of Permelia Jane Shockley Clinton and would be happy to share. James Monroe Clinton and his wife "Jane" as she was called moved to Hunt co Texas where they lived until their deaths. They are buried in the Sonora Cemetery near Fairlie Tx in Hunt co. I have more information on some of the other Shockleys. Cynthia Ann Niblack Shockley moved to Comanche Co Tx after her husband's death around 1852 in Smith Co, and lived with sons J. W.Shockley, Gideon Hollingsworth Shockley, Augustine Parks Shockley and daughter Margarett listed on the 1860 Comanche Co TX census. Cynthia is living with son Gideon Hollingsworth Shockley on the 1870 Comanche Co Census. By 1880 she is listed as 75 and is living with her son Augustine Parks Shockley in Hamilton Co TX where she died and is buried in the Gentry's Mill Cemetery. Augustine's wife Augusta was a Gentry and they are also buried at Gentry's Mill. Another of Cynthia and Thomas's children, Julia Ann Shockley married Matthew Shamburger and lived in the Smith Co TX area. The Shamburger family is associated with the nurseries famous for roses in the Tyler, Tx area. If you would like to share more info on this family please email me at urbantkel@sbcglobal.net
I am interested if anyone knows where Thomas Shockley is buried.
