Sullivan County was created from the original Cheshire County of NH in 1827.

In connection with my research of my mother's grandmother, I found that she was a descendant of a Hannah Sawtell, b. 8 June 1695 in Groton, Middlesex Co., MA. Hannah was a daughter of Obadiah Sawtell and Hannah Lawrence. Their 12 children included a Josiah Sawtell, b. 14 Aug 1687 in Groton, Middlesex Co., MA.

I did not try to find any information on descendants of this Josiah Sawtell.

Obadiah Sawtell was a son of Richard Sawtell and Elizabeth Pople, b. 14 Sep 1648 in Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA.

I have quite a bit more information. The sources cited include:
Watertown Vital Records
Groton Vital Records
Will: Richard Sawtel, Wife Elizabeth and son Obadiah co-executors. Will dated 16 May 1692 and recorded Watertown, Massachusetts. Children: Obadiah, Jr., Elnathan, Josiah, Hannah, Abigail, Hezechiah.
