We found an obituary and it matches the SSDI and oral history so I want to post that here in case anyone else is looking. This obituary is interesting because it only mentions one daughter probably from the most recent marriage. There were actually at least 5 daughters from previous marriage(s). And I'm one of at least 15 grandchildren. I never met Charles that I remember. Here's the obit below: Charles Hoyt SOMERSWORTH — Charles William Hoyt, 84, of 146 High St. died Oct. 27, 1999 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. Born July 22, 1915, in Portsmouth, he was the son of John and Mabel L. (Leach) Hoyt. Mr. Hoyt was employed in shoe repair with Miller Shoe Company. He was a member of the American Legion of Somersworth and a member since 1975 of the Dover Lodge of Moose 443. He was a World War II veteran. The widower of Margaret (Twombly) Hoyt, who died in 1983, survivors include his daughter, Juliette Potter, and her husband, Donald, of Colebrook and a friend, Alice Hartford. ———————- Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover. Of course, I want the ancestry of John Hoyt and Mabel Leach Belinda Notify Administrator about this message?
