My theory is that she was born in CT.

Her family were Tories, so during the Revolution in 1776, her family migrated west toward the New York area. (http://www.kindredtrails.com/Connecticut-History-1.html, http://www.dibblehistory.org/history2.htm)

English settlers of CT migrated to the Vermont and New Hampshire area. (http://www.vermonthistory.info/history.html, http://www.haunted-places-to-go.com/old-stagecoach-inn.html)

Then, she married Shem Kentfield in 1777 or 1778 in New Hampshire. Shem Kentfield was, also, a Tory. His trial was supposed to be in New York, but he was hanged in New Hampshire in 1782.
