I am seeking information on Cushman PRIOR and his wife Deborah Randall (TREFETHEN) PRIOR. In 1860, they were on the Kittery, York, Maine census but by 1870, Cushman and Deborah were in the Stratham, NH census. Cushman was a 69 yr old farmer, and formerly on previous census'in Kittery,Maine he was a carpenter. Deborah in 1870, was a 72 yr old housekeeper. I have not been successful in finding their grave sites/headstones. I am trying to connect my Ggrandmother Eliza Ann (PRIOR) REMICK to Cushman PRIOR. In the 1840 census Cushman had 3 sons and 7 daughters. But by the 1850 census in Kittery, Maine, his household included only the following:
Cushman PRIOR, a 49 yr old carpenter and head of household
Deborah PRIOR, a 52 yr old housekeeper
son Daniel PRIOR, a 31 yr old Joiner
son John PRIOR, a 30 yr old carpenter
son George PRIOR a 12 yr old, attending school
and one daughter by the name of Lydia PRIOR who was 17 yrs old.
I have found out that Deborah Randall (TREFETHEN) PRIOR died in Stratham, NH in 1821, but I have not been able to locate Cushman PRIOR after the 1870 census in Sratham.
I found my Ggrandmother in the 1850 census in Saugus, Essex, Mass in the household of Samuel Augustus PARKER and his wife Mary Watson (PRIOR) PARKER. Mary Watson was a 23yr old housekeeper with two young children Daniel Augustus PARKER who was 2 yrs old and a daughter Hannah M. PARKER who was only 5 months old. But also in the household was Eliza A PRIOR who was 19 yrs old and a Sarah PRIOR who was a 16 yr old. The relationships of Mary Watson PRIOR and Eliza Ann PRIOR and Sarah PRIOR is not indicated in the census, however I feel that they must have been sisters. All of these girls were born in Maine. Mary Watson PRIOR was born 1827 (march 1st)
Eliza Ann PRIOR was born 2 Nov 1831 in Seavey's Island, Kittery,York, Maine.
Sarah PRIOR was born about 1834 in Maine.
Can anyone help me find information as to who are Eliza Ann PRIOR's parents. It is interesting to note that Samuel A PARKER and wife Mary Watson had a grandson named George Cushman PARKER. George Cushman PARKER was born 8 Jan 1876 in Lynn, Mass. He was the son of Samuel and Mary's son John Henry PARKER. Another interesting note is that my Ggrandmother Eliza Ann (PRIOR) REMICK named one of their sons, Andrew Cushman REMICK. And the family called him "uncle cush" for short. What a coincidence!!!!!
Can anyone help me with more factual information than the circumstancial info that I have found so far. Please email me at <email@example.com> I am willing to share any other info that I have found. I have the CUSHMAN, REMICK and PRIOR lines all the way back, and only need to connect Eliza Ann PRIOR to whoever her parents were. Thanks to all the angels out there that may have a piece of the puzzle, even if it only proves that I am on the wrong trail. Gail (REMICK) Veve
