Matthews - Mathews around Deerfield, 1776?

Does anyone have any information about a Matthews family that lived in Rockingham County around 1776, perhaps near Deerfield? I'm trying to trace the ancestry of a Daniel Matthews who eventually settled in Hancock County, Maine around 1790. During the Revolutionary War he served in Col. Reed's (3rd) New Hampshire Regiment, and apparently enlisted at Deerfield.

Any information or clues appreciated. Thanks!
