Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Dick -

I would hope everyone would take the time to read that and any other contractual clause.

I did try to find your website, but kept getting a 404 message and as a reporter who had spent a number of years in covering the courts, the first thing I do is go to the bar association. Your's would do well to distinguish retired from others.

I do have to take exception with one thing. Ancestry.com and rootsweb also use the same clause - they may not be using it, but I have yet to find anything to prove to me that anything has been downloaded off GenForum. Since Genealogy.com only took complete control of Genforum on Nov. 1 and changed the website on Nov. 14 of last year (and I think many of us would agree it was an almost unusuable change), I doubt they have had much time to download anything from Genforum let alone put it on disk. Up until Nov. 1, it was privately owned.

However, I am up for anyone to prove me wrong on GenForum. I have just seen no proof.

Jackie
