Hi, I am not related but thought i would try to help you; you may or may not have this data:

1850 US Census: William Ranger 23, single, Maine, Wheelwright, Dracut, Middlesex, MA

1880 US Census: William F. Ranger, 53, wheelwirght, ME, parents born in Maine; wife Rose E. 24 MA , parents b Vermont;
Elmore L. 6 mon. NH; Nashua, Hillsboro, NH

1900 US Census: Rose E. 44, b Apr 1856, married; No spouse listed, however. Son ELMER 22, b Nov 1879 NH, Woolen carder; Wilton, Franklin, Maine

1910 US Census: Elmer A. 30, laborer, woolen mill; mother Rose E. 49, Widow; Wilton, Franklin, Maine
(on same page is an Asa Franger, 51, Maine and his brother Fred Ranger)

1920 US Census: Elemer A. 50, single; Rose E. 72 Auburn, Androscroggin, Maine.

WWI Draft Registration Card issued 12 Sept 1918
Elmer Alonzo Ranger b 16 Nov 1879, age 38, Res. Elm St. Auburn, Androscroggin, Maine
Employment: Freelift handler, Maine Central RR
Nearest relative: Rose E., mother, same address

Doesnt help much for William but perhaps searching Maine may find some relatives.
