Not sure if that is the same Jean & Amelie/Emilie.could be.I looked at all the older Carignans in Megantic on the 1881 census. There were a couple of men from the older generation who could be the father of your Jean Carignan.Their names were Valere and Onesime.I think some of the relatives of Onesime stayed in the Westbrook, ME area and I found Valere is buried in Somersworth, NH.
I found Valere's death cert info and it states:
died 18 Nov 1902, residence and place of death New Bedford, MA age 79 yrs 9mos and 10 days.cause of death heart disease, buried in Somersworth, NH, retired, born in Canada, son of Valere J. and Olive (Poisson) Carignan.
I checked the 1900 census and he is living in New Bedford with a second wife named Lucy.
Oh,by the way some of the internet posts on this Carignan line have the dit name Duclos. You might need to know that for further research.
Since Jean and Emelie seem to have stayed in Somersworth, NH maybe you can find death records or obits for them. You might get some good info from that.
