Hi!
I am researching Arthur Clough Atwood from Haverhill, Grafton Co. New Hampshire. I am actually researching his son, Dayton Atwood, who died in WWII.
I would like to contact one of Dayton's siblings or someone who knew him well during the late 1930-1940's.........or anyone else with information on this family.
1.) The Lisbon, New Hampshire chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution have a book or genealogy records entitled Clough-Atwood. It seems that the two families are closely related, go back to Plymouth Colony and the Revolutionary War.
I have not contacted them for the records since I haven't yet located a telephone number or e-mail address for the organization or a member of it. Lisbon, NH DAR Atwood-1922.ged ........is all I picked up from the site where I found this information.
2.) There is a John Clough genealogical society. http://ourworld.cs.com/cloughgen1/http://ourworld.cs.com/cloughgen1/ I think that is correct. I have not contacted them.
3.) Most of the small towns in New Hampshire have historical societies. I have worked with the one in Lebanon NH, in the past.......it is also in Grafton Co.
4.) Dartmouth College is in the same county. I have worked with their research department before.
5.) Also, I have an e-mail address for a database:Atwood and related families from 1200-1900. Clough is a related family to Atwood.
That is all the information that I can remember, or have handy now.
I feel that the source at the DAR would have a wealth of information. If you find out how to contact them, could you please notify me.
Perhaps someone knows of Arthur Clough Atwood, his wifeAbbie Grace Kimball or their children, particularly Dayton.
Please let me know how it goes......or if you have any leads for me.
Sincerely,
M Cushing
