Elizabeth Permelia Clemens, 1815, New Hampshire
Posted by: Barbara Petura (ID *****6563) Date: July 28, 2014 at 07:57:04
  of 11466

I am seeking the parents, specific birthplace, and marriage date and place for Elizabeth Permelia Clemens. She married Benjamin F. Church and had six children in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, between 1840 and 1865. Based on census, cemetery and other records, she was born in 1815 in New Hampshire.

She is recorded as Permelia Church or variants of that given name in census records, deeds and her children's marriage records, but is recorded as Elizabeth Church at Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee. She died 21 Feb 1856 and is buried in the plot owned by Benjamin F. Church and is buried with an infant, Benjamin F. Church Jr. Thus her given name may have been Elizabeth Permelia or Permelia Elizabeth.

The surname Clemens comes from one source, the death record of her oldest daughter Ann Maria "Hannah" Church who married Sherman Abernethy Bradley in Milwaukee. It may have been another variant such as Clements. A more detailed query is on my blog at: https://relativemusings.wordpress.com/2013/12/28/permilia-wife-of-benjamin-church/

Any help or research suggestions would be appreciated.
Best wishes,
Barbara
