Not sure if this helps, but I just purchased a book in Portland, Oregon from a used book store with an inscription on the inside as follows: "Frank I. (or J., not sure) Carr-From his grandmother- Dec. 25th 1852." The book also has a label on the inside cover "Sold by Wm. A. Carr, dealer in Books, stationery, & Fancy Goods, Bradford, N. H." Don't know if this has anything to do with what you're looking for, but thought you might be interested.
