I'm still confused about the logic of a British soldier having a child in Fitzwilliam, NH in 1776, and yet fighting against the colonists in 1777. That just doesn't make sense to me. I'm just not sure I agree that he fought in the Revolutionary War, rather than the French and Indian War...no matter what the books say. I doubt if there is any way to prove it ...one way or the other. However, I am willing to keep an open mind. There was obviously more than one Duncan Cameron, and records seem to indicate that one of them settled in New York state after the Rev. War. I don't know...as I said, I'm very confused and I'd like to see some better proof than what appears in some of those old town histories. SIGH!!
"My" Duncan Cameron was still living in 1801 when a deed 0f trust between himself and his son-in-law Joseph Drury was filed in Book A, Vol 2 of Barre, VT deeds. Apparently Duncan gave Joseph $500 and Joseph is using his land as collateral for the loan.
