In an obit for George Albion Eastman, born Tamworth NH 14 Feb 1829, it mentions that he had spent his younger days with John Moody on his farm at Gilmanton NH; then as a young man moved to Somersworth NH. George was listed in the Somersworth census for 1850, living with Henry P. Eastman, age 16 and head of household was Nancy Burley. Nancy was George's grandmother, and his parents were William Eastman and Lovey Burley. Lovey died in 1842, and I've found no trace afterward of William Eastman, so it is possible that George was "orphaned" at a young age, and therefore sent to live with Mr. Moody. I have seen that some of the Moodys of Gilmanton were ministers.
Are there some Moodys of Gilmanton who were related to Eastmans or Burleys, or was this John Moody a minister who may have taken in orphans? Does some record or diary exist for this John Moody?
I've found no records in Tamworth, and Somersworth records do not exist, so am hoping there might be some record on the Moody family that may hold a lead on this family mystery. It is Henry P. Eastman of the 1850 census, who I am trying to connect as a brother or cousin to George.
