Electoral Roll lookup for Sidney Haycroft
Posted by: Wendy Napier Walker (ID *****8953) Date: July 09, 2014 at 22:10:42

Grateful if someone could do an Electoral roll lookup around 1880's for Sidney (Sydney) Haycroft.

Sidney is the son of Samuel Haycroft and Elizabeth Jane Ashton and was born in October 1856 in Plymouth, Devon.

He appears in the 1871 England census living with his sister Maud and grandparents in Islington East, Islington, London, Middlesex.

The next reference I can find is in the Bay of Plenty Times, a court case in May 1882 where he is charged with giving a half-caste 2 glasses of beer. The case is dismissed.

He marries a Tapsell in May 1883 in Maketu, Bay of Plenty. His m/c states that his usual place of residence is Wellington and his occupation is given as Accountant.

I have looked in the DIA bdm index, Papers past and Wises Directory for Maketu for 1880's but have found nothing.

Can anyone assist pse?
