Battle of Gate Pa and Te Ranga, Tauranga, New Zealand, 1864

2014 marks the 150th anniversary of the Battles of Gate Pa and Te Ranga, in Tauranga, New Zealand.

I am compiling a comprehensive list and biographical information on those who fought at Gata Pa (29 April 1864) and Te Ranga (21 June 1864.). This includes both Maori and British.

I would welcome contact from anyone with ancestors who fought at Gate Pa and Te Ranga. Regiments include the 43rd (Monmouthshire), 68th (Durham), 12th, 14th (Buckinghamshire), 40th, 65th and 70th (Surrey) and Naval ships the Esk, Miranda, Falcon. I am particularly interested in any biographical information.

I have the NZ Medal lists for the 43rd and 68th Regiments, lists of those killed and wounded at Gate Pa and Te Ranga, a list of Maori who surrendered arms in the Tauranga district and various newspaper articles on the battle and death notices, particularly from the Daily Southern Cross and Auckland Star newspapers.
