Stapylton Cotton Caulton arrived in New Zealand about 1861 and was a pioneer settler of Waimate Valley, Poverty Bay.
He served in the Hawkes Bay Colonial Defence Force, the Napier Rifles, and saw active service in the New Zealand wars and Boer War in South Africa.
Stapylton was also Licensee of the Masonic Hotels Napier and Gisborne, Roseland Hotel Makarakai and the Albert, Governor Brown, Wharf, Central and St. Helliers Hotels in Auckland.
He was also a race horse owner and a wood and coal merchant.
As he had a very full life there must be a photo of him somwhere. Can anyone help?
