Information on Vivian Family
Charmaine Vivian 1/27/11
Ivan Henry Vivian 25 Oct 1916 - 19 Oct 1994
First I would order a copy of Ivan's death certificate at https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/Home/
Registration Nr. 1994/53900 VivianIvan Henryborn 25 October 1916
That should give you the names of his parents. Most of his other vital records, such as birth and marriages, are not available yet.
You might also see if Green Park Cemetery (Dunedin, Otago) has any records from his burial. There are many people with the surname Vivian buried in Dunedin. It appears that he may have served in the Military. Given his age, probably World War II.He was a resident of Leith House Rest Home in Dunedin at the time of his death.I don't know if they archive old records or if they make them available.
You can search the Green Park Cemetery records at http://www.dunedin.govt.nz/facilities/cemeteries/cemeteries_searchhttp://www.dunedin.govt.nz/facilities/cemeteries/cemeteries_search
Ivan was married twice. His first wife was Elizabeth Emma Ashwell, married in 1939.He is listed as having an alias of Ivan Henry Gilchrist for that marriage.Possibly using a step fathers name? It appears he and Elizabeth Emma divorced in 1961, as Archives New Zealand has records from the Dunedin High Court, 1961 - Vivian, Ivan Henry v Vivian, Elizabeth Emma.
There is also a record from the 1970s on he and Monique.Vivian, Ivan Henry v Vivian, Monique Antoinette and Johnston, Brian C1975-1978Dunedin High Court
I would also search the Otago Daily Times or other local newspapers for his obit. You can search the Otago Daily Times on microfilm at the McNab-New Zealand Room at the Dunedin Public Library. If you do that, look at the front page of Otago Daily Times for 12 Jun 1989.He is interviewed for an article on that day.
If you locate the names of his parents and need additional help, just post your query at this message board.
