Hi Ellen
Yes can definitely confirm that Sarah's maiden name was Rose
not Rhodes. I, like you, found her on the Cathcart shipping lists and thought a mistake had been made. This was clarified by a direct grandchild of hers, also have official copies of her marriage and death certs now. Sometimes she is recorded with a middle name of Ann, sometimes not. Bonnie has supplied all the correct information, about their children. I had never heard of a Richard. Only one am aware of who went to Australia, was Charlie, under questionable circumstances! He was the 3rd youngest and had three children to his marriage in NZ ( I believe one still survives in his 90's). Was aware he had married a second time in Australia, and understood had 4 children born there. I have a photo of the young Charles as part of a wedding party in 1910. Am not sure whether Alice knew, however do think so. Am only early into the quest for genealogical knowledge of the family of my maiden name (Lord). Am Gt grandaughter of John + Sarah. Would welcome you to the family
