I have started researching my family tree and found the following:
An Isaac Eggerton (born circa 1826) married a Mary Ann Kearns (born circa 1833). They were marriedat St. Patrick's Church in Auckland on 16-6-1849. Isaac arrive d in Auckland on the Mandarin on 14-11-1843. he was a Cooper/shoemaker. He is listed as a 'Parkhurst boy' so spent some time in Parkhurst prison.
Mary Ann Kearns arrived with her parents on board the Ramillies. Her father was a James Kearns, a retired soldier.
Isaac and Mary had a son James Eggenton (Eggerton) (circa 1849). I am unsure if there were other children but presume there were. He married a Sarah Ann Beaton(born 15-9-1851 in Auckland) on 8-9-1874. They had 5 children, all born in Auckland: Sarah Janet (1877); Margaret Emily Annie (1880), Mary Alice (1876),; Ivy Violet (1884) and james (1888). Are any of these your Eggertons (Eggentons)?
Cheers
Dave Larsen
