Gillett Australian connection
I have inherited the family tree and many old photographs from my uncle - Neil Gillett of our family, who descend directly from *John Gillett who left France with his wife and family along with his brother William and his family around 1790. Both families initially lived in Preston England.
John's issue was Adolphus Narcissus (born France c1783) and *William (known as John)(birth date and place unknown)who married Jane Hartley (b 27-9-1814).
John (AKA William) and Jane's issue was *John b1821, William b1825,Jane b1827, Agnes b1834 and George b1837.
John married Mary Ann Faith-Houghton b1822 and their issue was Hannah b1844, Charles b1850, *John b1854, Sarah b1862 (married Leonard Smith) and Mary Jane.
My uncle researched much of the family tree back in England prior to emigrating to Australia, visiting cemetaries, churches and government archives, but there are still many gaps, with the relatives who moved to different parts of Britain, those that remain in England and especially with relatives that left England to emigrate to Canada, the USA, New Zealand and Australia.
I would appreciate information from anyone knowing more about the French ancestory and subsequent descendency of William and John, and hopefully I could assist others with some of the information and photographs I hold.
The asteriks denote my line of descendency (a long line of 'John's', until my father 'Donald Alexander' who emigrated to Australia in 1954. Donald married Betty Lorraine Wilson in 1956, I was born in 1957, followed by another John, then Steven, Kerryn, Andrew, Michelle and Rodney.
