Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
I do not know if this will help you or not. My brothers and I have been researching our Newsom(e) side of the family for about 5 years. We are stuck on my great great grandfather, Nathaniel James Newsome, b. 1824-d.1901, lived in Wayne Co., GA, b. in the Old Screven Cemetery in Screven, GA. along with his wife, Mary Knight. Found a lot of Solomon Newsome's(5 as I recall)-tracked them from Warren-Wilkes counties to Lowndes Co.-cemetery there, haven't located it. Found a book(sorry, did not copy it), where Joeday Newsome received a passport to go west from Lowndes Co. There is a cemetery outside Lake Butler, FL called Easley(near a town that no longer exists called Dukes between Lake Butler and Gainesville). There are a lot of Newsomes buried there, including a Dr. Solomon Newsome. I know there is a connection between my Newsome relatives and these people from Lowndes and Dukes, FL., but can't find a handle on it. Have other info on this. The records are in the Bradford Co. courthouse in FL-Lake Butler is now in Union Co., FL., but used to be in Bradford Co. About 4 years ago, I talked to Dr. Hotzclaw's widow briefly-she told me all his records were in the basement. Records in Starke, Bradford County seat, are supposed to be in terrible shape-have not seen them. You can e-mail me at email@example.com. Thank you, Nancy Newsom Lande.
