My Newlands family was said to have come from Bathgate. Bathgate Academy was Newlands Academy until some years ago. Said to have been built with money left by a Newlands who made his fortune in the West Indies. There were several Newlands teachers in this school in the 1930/40s who were Newlands and were my cousins.

My grandfather was Alexander Newlands, as was my father. Great grandfather was John Newlands, Weaver.

Shall we follow up?
