John Newlands, 1850's?

Hi, I'm trying to find out about my great great grandfather John Newlands, originally of Knights Crescent Glasgow. He apparently always insisted on the name being spelled with an appostrophe - Newland's. His first language was scots gaelic.I believe he was one of three brothers who came out together and founded an iron bed making business. Apparently some of his generation of the family went to Canada also. Anyone who knows any more, I'd be grateful to hear. Thanks. Tracy.
