In reading quaker records,,,,,,,the d was dropped because of marrying outside the quaker religion,,,,I being the group of Newlans that ventured into Indiana,,,my grandfather being born in Coffee Kansas,,,his father Joseph,,,mother Sara,,,,,,,,,,talked of his father saying they dropped the d to determin thier own way,,,,,,we being Irish,,,,,,,,,and very stubborn,,,,hahaa,,,,it has been a very hard search to find you all,,,,Silas Earl Newlan married Ethel Hand,,have any of you ran into this line?
