Newells, Saratoga county, c. 1800

I'm looking for any information on my GGG grandfather John Newell, b. 1785, Coleraine, MA, d. 1869 and Mary Walker, b.1787, Princetown, NY, d. 1861.

They had 5 children born in Edinburgh between 1807 and 1827 (of the other 6, one born in Galway, one in Providence, two in Northampton, two unknown).

Most of the children seem to have ended up in Gouverneur, NY.

According to the 1878 History of Saratoga County, NY (see )

"The earliest settler of whom any definite information can be gained was ABIJAH STARK, a nephew of Gen John Stark, the
hero of Bennington. He came in 1787 with wagons and horses from Coleraine, Mass., via Ballston and the Fish House, and
settled on the east side of the Sacandaga river, near the west line ... Stark was accompanied by his wife (formerly
ELIZABETH NEWELL) and two children.

Also in the 1894 book: Our County and its People: A Memorial Record of St. Lawrence County, New York, my great-frandfather is quoted as saying his grandfather (that would be John Newell) lived on the "Sogmadog River."
