Martin Newcomber, b. Dec 12, 1839 married Katherine (Kate) Sophia Fox, b. Feb 17, 1842 in Hagerstown MD on Dec 2, 1862. Their oldest child was Frank Buhrman Newcomer. (Kate's mother's maiden name was Buhrman). Frank had four brothers and four sisters and the family moved from MD to NE around 1860. Early histoty of the Newcomer family goes back to Switzerland in the year 1719. When they came to America, Christian Newcomer was a circuit rider during the years 1795 - 1830. He made tours on horseback preaching in MD, VA, OH, IN, KY, & Canada. In Switzerland, the name was Newkomm, in America - Newkommet and later Newcomer. Frank married Alice Davis and they had 3 children. Alice died in 1896. The last information I have on Frank is that at sometime he moved from Nebraska (where his parents were) to Oklahoma.
