John Nelson Newby of Abbeville, SC was the godfather of my ancestor John Bickley, Jr., born in Louisa Co., Virginia and living in Abbeville in 1801. My query is this: is there an abstract transferring to John Jr. the $ 10,000 held in trust for him by his godfather ? John Bickley Jr. moved to Barnwell Co., SC by 1820 and became a lumber factor there, subsequently marrying, in 1822, Mary Desel of Charleston, SC and moving to Charleston circa 1824.
