This is NOT a direct match, but may lead you to your family. My Newby line came from Randolph County, NC (Quakers) and moved to Hamilton County, IN. Barnaby Newby and Rachel Green were married at Back Creek Monthly Meeting in 1818 and later had several children including a Hannah born in 1827. Too late for your Hannah but it may be a family name.

Barnaby's parents were Gideon Newby (1751-1816)and Mary Arnold (1767 - 1838) They did NOT move to IN, but many of their children did move. This might be where you could check, and Quaker records are quite accurate. Their kids:

Samuel (did not move)
William b. 1795
Jesse b 1800
Gideon b 1806

**************

Old Gideon's parents are Samuel Newby (1708*1776) and Elizabeth Sanders (1720-1795). Their sons included
Joseph b 1741
William b 1743
Gideon
Samuel b 1761
Jesse b 1764

I hope this gives you somewhere to look.
Laurie
