I am searching for anyone who may help me with my Hayes-Newberry connection. My gggrandmother's name was Martha Jewell Newberry she married Joseph Hayes and lived around Witter Ark. Joseph served in the Civil War. Company A, private, Arkansas Calvary, enlisted in Madison County on Nov. 12, 1862. Enlistment shows he was age 25, born 1837, in Pickens Co. South Carolina. Martha who was the Widow filed for pension in 1921. Oral family history tells me that Martha belonged to the J. J. Newberry bunch and they owned a dime and ten cent store in Ark. They had one child that I know of so far , her name was Sarah Jane Hayes and she married Asa Newport Bolinger. Would you have any connection to Martha that might help me futher my search. The stories told was when Martha came too Witter they lived in a cave known as Rock Haven House.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Peggy
