Don, I found a William Newberry b in Monmouth Co., NJ, he was not certain of his birth year. In the year 1777 when he thinks he had just turned 16, he entered service at Mananawking, Monmouth Co., NJ. This is found in the winter issue of the "Newberry News" Vol 1 No. 16 p 87. The Allen County Library at Ft Wayne, IN has a collection of these newsletters beginning in 1944 --2002. This William applies for his pension at Clermont Co., OH & this county has a book "Clermont Co, OH, Revoluntionary War Veteran's" Vol Two. He later moved to Brown Co., OH. This Wm Newberry is the son of Daniel Newberry & he d 27 June 1778 in the Battle of Monmouth Courthouse-Revolutionary War, NJ.(Daniel) This is also from a Family group sheet from the same issue. It has him(Wm) b 20 Oct 1758, m 8 Jan 1783 in NJ d in Brown Co., OH buried in the New Harmony New Methodist Cem. Could be Stephen & WIlliam are related. Hope this gives you some leads. In 1764 Stephen & WIlliam Newberry were among the taxpayers in Old Shrewsbury, NJ, this is found in the winter issue of 1995 Vol 1, No. 20 p 31.Stephen Newberry also died in the state of OH.
