Hi, Cree..according to the book "American Ancestors and Cousins of the Princess of Wales" by Roberts and Reisweisner it states: Michael Newbold, b. Hansworth Woodhouse, Yorkshire, England 1 July 1623, Will dated 19 May 1690, proved Burlington Co., N.J. 24 Feb 1692/3, an immigrant from Sheffield, Yorkshire to Burlington Co. ca. 1680, he was a son according to the notes of Dr. William Romaine Newbold, PHD, of Thomas Newbold of Hansworth Woodhouse, d. 1652, and Jane or Joanna Syms (bp.11 Feb. 1588, m. grandson of John Newbold, yeoman, of Hackenthorpe, Derbyshire, d. 7 May 1610, and Isabel, his wife, d. 1614, and of Matthew Syms, and a great-grandson of Thomas Newbold of Hackenthorpe, d. 1562/3. Earlier Newbolds of Hackenthorpe include at least two Johns (living 1486-8 and 1523-42 respectively) and Thomas (fined in 1451) and his wife Margaret. The immigrant Michael Newbold m. probably in Yorkshire ante 1633. Michael is the ancestor of Di, the Princess of Wales. Dr. Newbold is considered a renowned researcher. Di has millions of relatives here in the United States. One of my favorites who is now deceased is JOHN SINGER SARGENT, 1856-1925, artist. His mother was Mary B. Newbold and she descends from Thomas Newbold and Edith Coate. I will find my information that ties the Newbold, Layfield and Hearne families together and add it to the information added today. My Newbold, Layfield, Fowke,Fooks, Ennis, Blake, Owens families all came from the Eastern shores and I am always amazed at the families they connect with.
