Looking things over I don't see that anyone mentioned, in this discussion, that Jethro New is supposed to be from KENT county, DEL. There is a claim that he served in the 2nd Continental Line regiment of DEL. What people usually call the 1st DEL Continental Line was actually the 2nd Continental Line Regiment fr DEL, I have been unable to prove yet to my satisfaction that Jethro New was in that unit. He may have been a member of the short lived 2nd DEL Continental Line regiment which was much less famous. Even unto the 2nd generation of descendants fr Jethro New we find marriages with families that bear the same last name as men we find in the rosters of the 1st DEL Cont Line regiment. This may support the theory that Jethro saw active military service in a DEL unit. He also may have served in the DEL militia at some time.
