Well, now you all have thrown a wrench in my works. I have a John Buchanan New / Knew that was born 1879 to Jackson New b 1835 and either Mary Abbott or Mary Ann Mayfield. He always went by the name John B. He moved his family to Sullivan County Indiana around 1900 and followed his Uncle (I believe) David New, who went to Greene Co, Indiana. Sometime between the 1900 and 1910 census, John B. decided for some reason, that the last name should be spelled Knew. I have no clue why the change. He had married Minnie Alice Abrams and they had several children:
Gladys Lonnie 23 Mar 1901 Greene Co, In - 14 Oct 1990
Lex Garett 8 Feb 1904 In - 26 May 1970 Shelburn, In
Orville Curtis 13 Jul 1906 In - 11 Oct 1963
Jessie Chloe 5 Apr 1908 In - 6 Sep 1938 In
Iva Bernice 19 Mar 1910 Sullivan, In - 8 Jan 1997
Evert Elmo 4 Feb 1912 Sullivan, In - 10 May 1943
Mildred Veo 26 May 1914 In - 30 Dec 1986 In
John Cecil 14 Aug 1917 Sullivan, In - 21 Oct 1973
Delores Alma 4 Oct 1919 In - 26 Mar 2000
Claude Ernest 1922 - 14 Nov 1985

I have seen a few different dates for Jackson's birth. I believe he is the same person who was living with Eliza and Daniel Phillips in 1850. Eliza's parents were Lucinda New and John Nevels. Lucinda was the sister of "Granny" Fanny New. It makes me wonder if Jackson was Fanny's child also. And are there two Jacksons and are they both Andrew Jackson? ARGGGGGGG!
