Huguenot names for NEW
Posted by: Martha Smith (ID *****0593) Date: October 24, 2005 at 10:13:53

I'm trying to trace my NEW line back earlier than 1665, to the possible immigrant - Richard New - but have hit the wall, so to speak.

At the suggestion of another researcher I looked through the list of 'approved' Huguenot names and found the following one that looked interesting :

Niu, Pierre - other forms: Noe, Noue, Neve, Nuee, Noel

I wonder if this name could this also be translated NEW?
If anyone knows, I'd appreciate your comments and any helpful suggestions.

Thanks, Martha
