William Edward Nevitt-Justice of the Peace Taken by Death
William Edward Nevitt, Justice of the Peace and well known citizen of Tyrone died suddenly last Friday at his home in the Farmers and merchants Bank building, following a brief illness. Although Mr. Nevitt who had been ill two weeks was recovered sufficiently as to allow him to be about his home on Friday, he was seized with a sudden heart attack and died at 6:30 pm.
For five years Mr Nevitt has served as the Justice of the Peace, succeeding the late Mr William F Taylor Sr. He was well know as a lodgeman and active in community affairs. He was a member of the English Lutheran Church; Everett Lodge of Masons; Jaffa Shrine Knights Templar; Allegany Gateway Lodge, 87 I.O.O.F. During the war he was president of the Blair County draft board.
Born in Omaha, Nebraska, January 18, 1864, Mr Nevitt and his family have resided in Tyrone for 25yrs. About 46 yrs ago he married Miss Mary Conner of Everett, who survives, together with a daughter, Mrs John Ginter of Tyrone, and one son Guy Nevitt of Houston Texas. For many years he had been employed as a salesman for the Herbert Spencer, Bodie Company of Chicago.
The funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, Mrs John S Ginter, Tyrone, on Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Conducted by Rev Dr Edward M Morgan, pastor of the First English Lutheran Church. Burial was made in Everett, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.
