Hi Lawrence,
We're related! My grandfather was Walter Nevins, your grandfather's older brother by a year and a half. Their parents were Thomas Francis Nevins and Ella Agnes Pardee. Thomas' father was James Nevins who I believe immigrated from Ireland in 1851.
Thomas and Ella had eight children, six boys and two girls. Thomas was born in Brooklyn and moved to Fish's Eddy in the late 1800s. The family moved to the Bronx before their youngest child was born in 1913. Thomas was a stonecutter.
I believe that your grandfather lived in Long Island because my mom talked about meeting my dad's uncle Robert, probably in the 60's. I grew up in Centereach on Long Island. My dad was Thomas F. Nevins II.
If you have any info on our grandfather's siblings I would love to learn more. I know one brother William, was killed in WWII. Walter died in 1947 of stomach cancer. I'd also love to learn more about my great uncle Robert.
Thanks for Posting,
Diane Nevins
