Upon the deaths of Mary Ann and Catherine Ann Clark, I received two large, framed portraits (approx. 19 x 23”) of what are believed to be their paternal grandparents, Michael Francis Clarke and Mary Neville Clark (Clarke), along with other documents that may be of interest to Michael & Mary’s descendants. Photos of the portraits are posted on the message board at Ancestry.com.
The following is a synopsis of what information I have about the family:
Mary Ann and Catherine’s father, Matthew Francis Clark(e), was born in New York City on July 2, 1877 and died on May 24, 1966 in Kinderhook, NY. Matthew was married to Mary Navom Clark on September 4, 1922 in Stuyvesant Falls, NY.
Matthew Francis Clark(e) was reportedly one of eight children born to Michael F. and Mary N. Clark(e). The other known children are Polly Clarke (died May 14, 1873 at age 2); Mary Clarke (died May 15, 1895 at age 2 years 6 months); and according to Mary Ann Clark, Rose Clark Langford.
John Clarke purchased a grave in Calvary Cemetery on May 14, 1873 presumably for Polly Clarke.
Photos from the mid 1930’s include John Windhurst, “a cousin visiting from the Bronx.”
