Adam Neuman or Neumann married Lissett Bueche in 1887. Some family records say he died in 1899, but there is a strong belief he left his wife and six children. He possibly had alcohol and gambling problems. Also a story handed down in the family that when Adam died Lissett got a letter possibly from an attorney asking her to send money for his burial so he wouldn't have to be buried a pauper. This leads me to believe they never divorced. On the other hand, I think the story also goes that she would not send any money, not knowing if he was really dead or if this was a ruse to get money from her.
Children of Adam and Lissett were: Ruth Ann, Emma, Lucy, Paul, Vern and Albert. Ruth was born Aug. 4, 1896, and Albert was born three years later. In some of Ruth's writings it says the oldest child was 10 when Adam died.
Strong possibility Adam was in the Riga or Blissfield area of Michigan during this time period, as Ruth was born there.
Ruth was my paternal grandmother, and although she wrote down a lot of her memories before she died, this is all the information she had about her father. I would love to find out more about him.
