Thanks for the tip, Ruben. Elizabeth Wiebe died 22 Sep 1996 and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon on 25 Sep 1996. I just recently found the data in the Cemetery Index there.
I searched the MB Herald archives through the remainder of 1996 and all of 1997 with no results. I'm hopeful that someone may volunteer to lookup her obit in the Saskatoon Star Phoenix, and that the obit may reveal the connection as well as confirm her ancestry.
When her father Jakob Peter Neufeld, stepmother, and their family came to Angel Island in San Francisco in October 1930 from Harbin, China, Elizabeth Wiebe of Saskatoon was listed as his daughter on the ship manifest.
