I recently did some research in my family tree.

The sister of my grandfather was Margot Mathilde Hienriette Stevens.
Johanna van Veen had two children out of wedlock. A daughter Margot Mathilde Hienriette and a son Henri Paul Louis, born May 1st 1881 in Groningen.
After Johanna van Veen married Johannes Stevens, Johannes accepted these children as his own, allowing them to take the family name Stevens.

One month after the marriage Johannes Stevens died.

According to stories told in my family, both children were sent to a different location to grow up.

Margot Mathilde was sent to an unkown location in Amsterdam and my grandfather Henri Paul Louis was sent to Rotterdam.

Margot Mathilde married Hobe Scholten in 1906 and they divorced in 1919. The reason for the divorce is that Hobe Scholten fell in love with a different woman. After this divorce Margot moved to the US. I think she moved there in 1919 and went to Los Angeles, but I'm not sure about that. We never heard from her again.

I'm named after her, and I'm curious to hear what became of her.
