Hello Lori,
It is not easy to explain those names. They were and are used very localy, especially in the provinces Friesland and Groningen.
Wiertje: comes from the name Wierd or Wiard. But also from the name Wide. The last comes from: Guido, Helewise, Keith, Vitus, Weid, Wide, Widmer, Widukind or Wisse.
Wierd and Wiard are the given names of men. Wiertje is a given name of a girl. Probably this girl is called after one of her male ancestors. But that is not sure. The name "Wier" comes from the Dutch word: "strijd" what means "struggle"
The name Weltje is harder to or even not to explain. The only I know is that it can be written as : Weltsje or Weltsie. It is a maden given name out of the province Friesland. Probably it comes from the Dutch verb "willen" what means "wanted".
This is all I can tell you about these names. I hope it will do.
Best regards,
