yes, in fact most all dutch changed their first names after coming to the US.Hendrika and Hendrikje was normally changed to Henrietta.Johanna was changed to Josie, or Jo or Joanne.Maria was Mary or stayed Maria.This is most common obstacle to dutch genealogy research...americans looking for english names in holland archives, which they won't find.Foppen is a common dutch surname.Ill guess that the C.M was Cathrina Maria, as I have found one in the archives, but she was married to a different man in 1872, so either i have the wrong woman or she was married once before.interestingly, the age of the one i found matches the age of the Hendrika who emigrated as the wife of Holman.do you know if a marriage occured before?tell me the state they lived in during the 1900 census and ill look up the family and see how long they were married and pass it along to you.
