Hi Betsy
Thanks for the URL's. Some of these sites I have seen before and the other difficulty is that I do not speak or read Dutch or Indonesian. This connection is on my husband's side and I have recently found some interesting information. Such as we have always been led to believe that only his parents were born in Indonesia and that all other generations were born in Holland. We have just discovered that both parents on my husband's maternal side were also born in Indonesia. I am reasonably new to this so still get excited about these little discoveries. This is where I am at so far.
My husband's paternal grandfather was Martinus van der Sluis b.17.3.1885 d. 1942 (POW). His grandmother was Cornelia Margaretha Emma Doderlein De Win b. 6.4.1884. We believe both of these were born in Holland but this is as yet to be confirmed.
His maternal grandfather was Willem Hendrik Fedor Guldenaar b. 1876 in Rembang, Djawa, Indonesia and his grandmother was Pauwlina Louisa Maria De Jongh b. 1881 in Rembang, Djawa, Indonesia.
I have been unable to discover any details of their parents.
There are many stories of numerous marriages and brothers and sisters but I have been unable to confirm any of them.
I will look forward to hearing from you.You are welcome to email me offline if you like.
Regards
Annette
