finding long lost relatives
Greatgrampa Cornelius Makelaar, 1 of 4 brothers from the Hague area (another was named Jan) immigrated to the US through Canada,1900. They were dairy farmers who made cheese. Wife Gertrude and 2 children Mary 4, and Elizabeth 2, followed through Ellis island in 1905. My MOm tells me she and my Grandma(Elizabeth) corresponded with a cousin named Hildebrand for a while, also in the Hague area, now lost touch.Grandmother's sister, Afra, married Louis Ham, they had 2 children, a girl, Afra the second, there were at least 4 generations of Afra's, the last one being 43 from the postcards I have! One son at least,Son named Henri and wife lived in Dordrecht (sp?) Greatgrampa should have 3 brothers of future generations of relatives, as well as Uncle Lou and Auntie Afra's kids kids. Any ideas? How to put out the word I am looking?
