Claes emigrated from the city of Schoonhoven, the Netherlands to Manhattan, NY in 1650.Hemoved up the Hudson River to Kingston, NY where my Van Schoonhoven's lived until about1715.The Schoonover family name comes from this city of Schoonhoven, the Netherlands and evolved to Schoonover in America by the mid-1700's.Subsequent generations of my family migrated from Kingston, NY to Sussex Co., New Jersey in 1715-1725 and on toPennsylvania by 1801.Nicholas (born in 1775), eight of his children and 54 of his grandchildren migrated west to Mason County, Illinois by the mid-1840's.James Marion moved to Nebraska in 1899 and Harry Omer came to Minneapolis in 1933.
