There isn't a Luster County, Norway. There used to be Lister and Mandal. There's a Lyster / Luster in Sogn og Fjordane.

I checked Social Security Death Index, but this is the only Mons NESS -- (12 Sep. 1889 - July 1986, New Glarus, Green, WI). Do you have approximate dates when your Mons was born, married, and died? Could he have died before 1930? Could he have used an Anglicized name? I don't have the 1930 Census, but the database has Edward NESS, b. ca. 1910, of Fargo. Could that be your Edward?

USGenWeb > ND > Cass County, index to census of 1900:

NESS, Edward, 40; Christiana, 30; Norton, 4; E. C. 2, & Melvin, 1. [216B:34:15B]
John NESS, 31, [204B:24:3B].

Do you have names for the initials of T. W. NESS?

Do you have the names of any wives? Cass Co., ND, M-10167 = Edward NESS, 30 May 1931, Effie Evelyn RISEDORF.

If you can't find your family in Norway, you can find mine. There's a Nes Campground near Moss, Ostfold, south of Oslo. :-)
