Barbara, I am grateful to you for supplying more than I had on John Nesmith's arrival in Monmouth. I did not even know that he came to the New World voluntarily; I had thought he was a Covenanter who was imprisoned for his religious beliefs and sent to the New World involuntarily, to be sold into indentured servitude to pay his passage over.

Even though flawed in places, Howard Horner's posting of his line encouraged many of us to pursue our own. After his passing, one of his kin responded to my last email to Howard, saying as yet there were no plans for anyone to continue his research. I have a copy of one of his last web page postings of this line; I know it was one of his last because it contains my father's name, Chesley Otis Wilson, and his kin, which had not been there previously.

I can prove to my own satisfaction my ancestry back to Thomas NeSmith, Revolutionary War soldier buried in Madison Co., and I'm working on attaching his father to the line that came from Monmouth. I will send you my line privately so as not to tie up the Forum. But anyone who has anything to add or question on this line, please jump right in and let us know.

Helen Dearing
